A lucky break for Elizabeth

Instead of a final trip to a foreign slaughterhouse.....

My name is Elizabeth, and I am told I am one of the luckiest animals here at the sanctuary.  I am the only survivor out of 500 of my friends and family who were on our way to a foreign country to be killed.  My mum gets very cross about this and doesn’t understand why they send animals over in those dreadful trucks to be killed.

I still remember that day when I was 6 months old.  I knew something bad was happening, there was a lot of unrest in my flock.  Some men came and shoved us all in a big truck.  They didn’t care if they hurt us, we were all so scared.  We were driven from Scotland down to Dover.  It was so cold and dark in that truck.  I couldn’t move and I had no food or water for what seemed like forever.  I don’t remember exactly how I came to get away, but boy am I glad I did.  My life here has been the best I could have wished for.  I am 14 years old and I still get around great, I just get a bit tired in the fields sometimes, so I like a rest in the barn.

I don’t know what the future holds for me, I still have so much to do and see around the sanctuary.  I hope by sponsoring me, you will help my mum to pay for me to have this wonderful life I was given a second chance at.  All my friends and family were made into meat many many years ago, but I am still here, living proof of how us sheep aren’t just about meat, we are clever and loving animals who enjoy life as much as any dog or cat does.
